Now, a Calendar Highlighting 'Achievements' of Burhan, Afzal in J-K
The calendar highlighting terrorists as martyrs has become a source of information for the security forces to plan strategies against them in the valley.

New Delhi: In a bid to attract Kashmiri youth towards the path of terrorism, terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir have published a new calendar glorifying the acts of terrorists, including slain Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani and 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.

The controversial calendar, which was circulated in the valley by a group of terrorists, also contains names of Ishaq Ahmed, Makbool Bhatt, Sarjan Barkati and Dr. Ayyub Thakur.

According to reports, the calendar published for the year 2017 highlights the 'sacrifice' of the terrorists with the dates on which they were killed by security forces. In addition to that, it also contains names of the people who died during public protests. The dates appear in red, green, blue and orange colours to highlight their importance while their death has been termed as 'genocide'. The name of fourteen-year-old Insha Malik - who lost her vision after pellet injuries - also finds a place in the calendar.

The calendar shows the picture of Sarjan Barkati who is popularly known as 'Freedom Chacha' in Kashmir and is languishing in Bhalwal jail. Also, Hizbul Mujahideen militant Ishaq Ahmad has been mentioned as 'Newton of Kashmir' and Burhan Wani as 'Pride of Kashmir' in the calendar. Dr. Ayyub Thakur, who is running World Kashmir Movement in London, has been shown as Kashmir's first physicist in the calendar.

However, the calendar has finally reached the security forces with the help of local police informers and they are planning their strategies against terrorists based on the vital information provided in the calendar.

Indian Army is using this calendar to foil terror attacks and curb anti-national activities in the Valley. Reportedly, the neutralisation of three terrorists in Bandipura on February 14 in an encounter with security forces is said to be the result of the planning done on the basis of this calendar. Moreover, the deployment of army jawans in particular areas and stepping up vigil is part of the strategy.

The 'calendar strategy', devised by terrorists to fuel violence in Jammu and Kashmir, comes in the wake of Army chief Bipin Rawat's warning to protesters and stone -pelters not to hamper counter-insurgency operations.
