London: The Queen is she is throwing a party, but not everyone is invited.
The elite lunch that Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip are holding in honour of the Queen turning 80 has a list of invitees that include 100 octogenarians born on the same day as the monarch.
The lunch party is being held on April 19, two days before the Queen's birthday, and will be held in the state apartments of Buckingham Palace.
The companions and spouses of the octogenarians are invited along with them.
The lucky octogenarians - who hail from Britain and all over the Commonwealth - were chosen through a draw of lots.
The lunch is a two-and-a-half-hour sit-down banquet and will mark the start of the celebrations of the Queen's birthday, which are expected to continue till July.
Although The Queen was born on 21 April, it has long been customary to celebrate her birthday publicly on a day in the summer, when better weather is more likely - in the Queen's case on June 17 every year.
After the lunch, the Queen is expected to dine with close family - at the invitation of her eldest son, Prince Charles.
The celebrations in Juune will be marked by the ceremony of Trooping the Colour on Horse Guards Parade.
The parade is carried out by fully trained and operational troops in Whitehall and watched by members of the Royal family, invited guests and members of the public.
Several exhibitions have also been planned which include an exhibition of the photographs of the Queen from the time when she was only five weeks old.
Other events include a National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral and a Children's Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.
