One held in lake suicides case

HYDERABAD: Police on Friday took a person into custody in connection with the Saroornagar lake suicide case. On a tip off, police arrested Balraj, husband of Swarnawathi, one of the six who committed suicide on Wednesday. Balraj reportedly confessed that the disputes between him and his wife drove them to commit suicide."He and his co-brother Bhumaiah in an inebriated condition had heated argument with their wives on April 16. They beat up their wives and left the house," police said quoting Balraj.According to police, Balraj got the news on Thursday that his wife, sister-in-law and their children committed suicide. He was nabbed by the police on his way back home in Asifnagar on Friday morning. Six members of a family- three women and three children-- committed suicide by jumping into lake on  April 16 in Saroornagar.
