Noida: Police have arrested one more person in connection with the alleged gang rape of 24-year-old MBA student while five other accused were remanded to 14-day judicial custody.
Twenty-two-year-old Little, son of Jaibir, was picked up from Garhi Choukandi village this afternoon, police said, adding four other accused were absconding.
Police have till now arrested six persons in connection with the shocking incident that occurred when the victim was returning home with her friend in their car after shopping at a mall in Sector 39 here last evening.
A manhunt has been launched for other accused Tuiya, Omkar, Shashi Kant Golu and Anil, police said.
The five accused arrested yesterday were produced before the magistrate who sent him them to judicial custody till Jan 20.
A hearing on application for police custody was fixed for January 9.
In an FIR lodged with Noida Police, the friend of the second-year MBA student, residing in south Delhi's Lajpat Nagar, claimed the motorcycle-borne youths waylaid them near a drainage.
"Amit Talwar, the friend, said that while they had travelled about 900 metres from the mall, some motorcyclists
overtook them and waylaid them. They forcibly entered the car and one of them started driving," Tripati said, adding the youngsters were carrying cricket bats and wickets.
After driving for some time, the official said, the youngsters reached an isolated place where they allegedly raped the girl.
