BANGALORE: A one-year-old girl was killed after she sustained severe burn wounds after the tarpaulin tent, in which she was sleeping, caught fire. The incident was reported on ring road near Doddanekundi in Mahadevapura police station limits late on Friday night.The deceased has been identified as Khushi. Her mother, Biliya, has also sustained injuries in the mishap. The family hailed from Kolhapur in Maharashtra and sold herbal medicine on footpath. According to the police, Biliya had lit a mosquito coil and had placed it on a plastic bucket before going to sleep with her three children. But late in the night, the mosquito net caught fire and it spread in the entire tent. The duo were severely burnt in the incident, while the other two children managed to come out of the tent and screamed for help. Some passersby noticed the fire and informed the police. By the time the police reached the spot, the girl had dead.
