BANGALORE: Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda will flag off a padayatra which will commence from the samadhi of Siddalingaprabhu, who was a campaigner against Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE), at Sompura in Kengeri hobli, Bangalore South. It will conclude at the residence of Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda on November 4 seeking arrest of the murderers of Siddalingaprabhu.Agni Sridhar, Indudar Honnapura, Kodihallli Chandrashekar and Panchalingaiah, who addressed a joint press meet on Monday, said rumours were agog that NICE company owner Ashok Kheni and Rudresh have allegedly given ‘supari’ to eliminate Siddalingaprabhu who was actively campaigning against the company. Despite having given a written complaint, the police failed to arrest the culprits and were trying to hush up the case by arresting five persons belonging to Ashok Kheni Abhimanigala Sangha. They said the purpose of the padayatra is to demand the chief minister to refer the murder case for an enquiry. The padayatra will begin at 10 am and is expected to reach the CM’s house at 5 pm. Since the agitation is apolitical, they have requested Deve Gowda to flag off the event. They also alleged that there is a conspiracy to demolish nearly 5,000 houses in survey number 1 of Pillagana Halli. Poor families have been living there for the past 4 decades. “Interestingly, the jurisdiction police inspector sent a letter to the BESCOM authorities to disconnect power supply to these houses, claiming that they were illegally built. The cop was not a competent authority to issue such letter. The government should take strong note of it and suspend him,” they claimed.
