The third seeded Indo-Czech pair, the reigning US Open champions, went down 3-6 6-1 3-6 to Michael Kohlmann and Rainer Schuettler of Germany.
Meanwhile, Mahesh Bhupathi and Radek Stepanek from the Czech Republic advanced to the third round, beating Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and Filippo Volandri of Italy 6-1 6-3.
