Pak counter probe of 26/11 could be another dead end
The initial leaks indicated Pakistan was determined to rubbish the Mumbai dossier.

New Delhi: Pakistan completes it counter probe on 26/11. The Mumbai dossier has been sent to the Pakistan Interior Secretary for examination and consultation with the law Ministry, but CNN-IBN has learnt that it may be another dead-end.

Interior Advisor Rahman Malik said, “Pakistan is fully committed to bringing to justice the culprits involved in 26/11.”

The initial leaks indicated Pakistan was determined to rubbish the Mumbai dossier and deny any conspiracy in the country, then Prime Minister Gilani said in Davos that action would be taken against the Mumbai attackers, followed by CBS News quoting a senior government source as saying that some of the people held since 26/11 would be prosecuted apparently under the cyber crime law since they used the internet during the attacks.

Foreign minister Pranab mukherjee said, “We have not got any information from Pakistan government. Whatever we know is from the media. A government cannot reply like this.”

Meanwhile, word came out in Delhi that High Commissioner Shahid Malik had met Home Minister Chidambaram on Thursday to brief him on the investigations, a breach of protocol it would seem as the foreign office didn't seem to know about it.

Expect more revelations next week when Islamabad may finally hand over the results of its investigations.

Indian government sources are not optimistic, saying the signs are not good.
