MYSORE: Even as the city is waiting the arrival of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for foolproof security for Jambu Savari, about 1,000 additional police personnel, including 95 officers, were pressed into service on Sunday.Interestingly, though the state government is spending crores for Dasara festivities, the lodging facilities provided for these police personnel is nothing short of pathetic.They camp in schools, hostels and choultries in the city. They government is offering TA and DA to them, but they have to cook on their own.The police personnel have to wait in long queues even at restrooms. About 100 policemen of KSRP are staying at Mathru Mandali Educational Institution, but there are only four toilets for them. Everyday, they should be present at the duty point at 8 am and relieve the other team for rest. For this, they have to wake up early in the morning, 5 am, because of the long queues for morning rituals. But the policemen have learnt to come to terms with the reality. A policeman at Mathru Mandali School said, “we cannot expect all facilities at all the places because our job is to provide security, and moreover, the department will not pay any water or electricity charges to the institutions concerned for usage. Hence we have to adjust with the available facilities.”
