CUTTACK: Rampant malpractice in the ongoing matriculation supplementary examinations along with the Certified Teachers (CT), Distance Education programme for Certified Teachers (DEPCT) and Certified Physical Education Teachers (CPEd) examinations has come to the fore even as the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) struggles to crack the whip on the illicit activities. As many as 270 students appearing in the supplementary examinations, 309 para- teachers appearing in the DEPCT, 26 CT and eight CPEd students have been booked for malpractice. While the examination squad sent by the Board to check copying by Gana Sikhyaks at the Lalitgiri High School in Mahanga block of the district were manhandled and locked up inside the schools on Monday, the regulatory authority has reported booking of more than 183 such para-teachers appearing in the DEPCT on Tuesday.  Undeterred by the attack, the BSE deputed another inspection squad to the examination centre on Tuesday foiling every machination of the para-teachers to resort to malpractice again.  The supplementary examinations are underway at 33 centres with more than 61,168 students appearing in it. About 21,919 para-teachers are appearing in the DEPCT examinations at 127 centres while 10,416 CT aspirants are taking the examinations at 60 centres. Eighty-one CPEd students are appearing in 81 centres, Board President Satyakam Mishra said.
