ANGAMALY: The Bank Junction on the National Highway at Angamaly town witnessed a unique service on Monday when the parents of the students of St Joseph’s School here engaged in controlling vehicular traffic in a bid to protect their wards from the speeding vehicles. The Bank Junction has turned out to be the most dangerous spot where vehicles pass very fast ignoring the pedestrians crossing the road. Hundreds of students, including kids, cross the NH at the junction to reach their school everyday. The pleas of the school authorities and parents to deploy police personnel on traffic duty at the junction were ignored. However, the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) decided to take up the traffic duty in the absence of the police. As a result of this, the parents controlled the vehicular traffic at the Bank Junction on Monday. The action of the PTA to control the traffic was not to oppose anybody, not part of any agitation or to accuse any group, said PTA president M V Elias.
