PUDUCHERRY: Embattled Collector G Ragesh Chandra got into further trouble on Sunday, with political parties demanding that action be taken against him over alleged irregularities in construction of houses for tsunami victims under the rehabilitation scheme. In a statement here, CPI state unit secretary Na Ra Kalainathan urged the government to remove Chandra, also the Director of the Project Implementation Agency (PIA), from the post.Further, the roles of other officials and Ministers in the case should also be investigated, Kalainathan added.Meanwhile, in a resolution that was adapted at a meeting of its office-bearers of its Puducherry unit, the AIADMK urged the government to shoulder responsibility for all the alleged irregularities in the tsunami rehabilitation project. The government officials were not acting according to rules and regulations, but were only executing orders of Ministers, charged the resolution. The Collector was recently questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which also conducted searches at his residence recently. This followed a complaint that was lodged by a non-governmental organization, alleging irregularities in implementing the Tsunami rehabilitation project.
