CHENNAI: A pedestrian and a loadman were killed in an accident after a load auto hit them at Kattupakkam near Poonamallee on Sunday.Police said Michael Raj (56) was driving a load auto after loading vegetables at Koyembedu and was proceeding towards Tiruvallur when he lost control of his vehicle after an auto overtook him. The load auto hit pedestrian Krishnaveni (38), killing her on the spot. Police added that it then rammed into a container lorry parked in the corner of the road, killing the load man of the auto, Vel Murugan. The driver fled, leaving behind his vehicle. Poonamallee traffic investigation police are investigating.Passenger Grounded A 40-year-old Bangalore-based passenger was held for possessing Euro and US currencies worth more than Rs 6 lakh without declaring them and trying to fly to Hong Kong on Sunday. Police sources said Paul Ayub (40), a businessman dealing with electronic goods, was to board a flight to Hong Kong when customs officials found that he was carrying undeclared currency worth Rs 6.4 lakh. He was arrested and the currency seized.
