MADURAI: Taking strong exception to the Union government’s plan to inaugurate the Kudankulam nuclear power plant, the Tamil Nationalist Movement on Saturday hinted at people’s revolution if such a thing happened. At least 11 organisations, including the MDMK and NGO People’s Watch, staged a demonstration at Petchiamman Padithurai here against the government move to throw the plant open.Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the demonstration, Nedumaran alleged the Union government of using former president Dr A P J Abdul Kalam to persuade the people and said it was condemnable. In his speech, Nedumaran said the Tamils were protesting against the KKNPP in a silent manner. He added that the Union government was more keen on getting Plutonium for nuclear weapons from the project. “That is why they are not bothered about the lakhs of lives. If the government goes ahead, there will be a people’s revolution,” he warned.
