CNN-IBN's Senior Editor Anubha Bhonsle talks about the amazing journey of the ten-year old fast of the Iron Lady of Manipur, Irom Sharmila against the draconian Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).Anubha acknowledges and also laments the fact that Irom's cause came to hit the national headlines only after the 13-day fast of Anna Hazare to get the Jan Lokpal Bill passed. She points out that either our indifference to the North-East or its distance from Delhi has made us ambivalent of Irom's struggle against AFSPA. Mindful of the complications of getting the AFSPA repealed in the north-east, Anubha nevertheless identifies the long history of human rights violations, rapes, killings and lack of basic freedoms in Manipur and other areas of the North-East.
