Narsinghpur: Three persons, including a police inspector and a head constable, have been arrested after a High Court directive in connection with the murder of a Congress worker in police firing in 2012, police said. Ambika Prasad Dube was killed allegedly in a police firing at Jhipani Dhana village following a dispute in June 2012.
Later, his daughter filed a petition in the Madhya Pradesh High Court alleging that the police murdered her father after a dispute with a salesman over distribution of foodgrains. Dube was shot dead after a dispute over allocation of quota for a ration shop following which police intervened in the matter. In the melee Dube suffered bullet injuries allegedly fired by police after which he was rushed to a hospital but he succumbed enroute.
The High Court in 2012 had directed the police to register a case following which the then Suatala police station in-charge Ashutosh Chand, head constable Rajesh Jaat and a salesman Shivkumar Udenia were arrested by the Madhya Pradesh police's Special Investigative Team (SIT) on Saturday. The accused were produced in a local court, which sent all of them to jail under judicial custody.
