Latehar (Jharkhand): In a joint anti-Maoist drive the security personnel of Jharkhand and Chhatisgarh are engaged in an encounter with the Maoists on the borders of the two states on Tuesday, police sources said.
"The intermittent encounter is still on. Security personnel from Chhatisgarh and Jharkhand s Latehar and Garwah districts are involved in the encounter," DIG (CRPF) BK Sharma said.
Latehar Superintendent of Police Kranti Kumar is leading the drive against the Maoists near Latu village in Latehar district, bordering Chhatisgarh and the state s Garhwa district, he said.
The security forces have kept the Maoists on the run in these areas for the last three months and chased away the rebels from Sarju area of Latehar district, according to police sources.
