Private bus strike in Tripunithura Friday

TRIPUNITHURA: A section of private bus workers belonging to the CITU has called for a one-day token strike on Friday against the alleged manhandling of a conductor by the police. According to the union leaders, the Tripunithura police manhandled Saneesh, 28, on Tuesday night. He has been admitted to the Tripunithura Taluk Hospital with injuries. “On Tuesday night, the police asked me to report at the Hill Palace police station. When I reached there, the police manhandled me without any provocation,” Saneesh said.The police said they had summoned Saneesh based on a complaint filed by Shilpa, a medical student. The medico had complained that the conductor misbehaved with her when she asked for travelling concession on Tuesday.
