New Delhi: Actress Priyanka Chopra and her team have been trying to get back Jiban Patra's body back to India for some time now. Patra, who worked in Priyanka's team and was one of her several assistants, passed away in a LA hotel in April 7.
Patra was part of the entourage that accompanied the actress to LA. While the rest of team flew to Vancouver for an award ceremony with Chopra, Patra stayed back in LA as he could not get a Canadian visa in time. Patra's body was discovered in a hotel.
While earlier reports had suggested that Patra's family, back in India, did not have money to get his body back and had asked Priyanka to help them financially, there were reports that suggested that the actress and her team weren't too keen to get involved in the case owing to long paperwork.
In a statement issued by Priyanka Chopra's office, posted by journalist Anna MM Vetticad on Twitter, it has been revealed that the actress and her team are still under the process of getting back Patra's body.
"This is a very unfortunate and unexpected situation. Our deepest condolences go out to Mr. Patra's family.
