Malkajgiri MP Sarve Satyanarayana formally inaugurated the Hyderabad Metro Rail Corporation’s ‘Vanadheeksha’, a programme aimed at increasing the green cover in the city.
The corporation plans to plant over 50,000 saplings across the city under the programme. The HMR has also decided to award cash prizes of Rs 50,000, Rs 40,000 and Rs 25,000 for the best three contributions to improve green cover in the city by individuals, institutions, societies, NGOs and student groups.

HMR managing director NVS Reddy said the Vanadheeksha will continue up to October 20.
Mass tree plantations are also being taken up at the University of Hyderabad, Osmania University, NGRI, ATDC, HPS, DLRL, Defence Research Development Organisation on Saturdays.
