The Kerala State Lotteries Department has ordered a detailed department-level inquiry into the illegal sale of Kerala Lotteries in other states such as Tamil Nadu, where the sale of lotteries is banned.
Biju Prabhakar, director, Kerala State Lotteries Department, said that if agencies registered with Kerala Lotteries were involved in the illegal sale of lotteries outside the state, strict action would be initiated against them, including cancellation of agency licence.
The decision comes close on the heels of Express reporting how the business of selling Kerala Lotteries clandestinely outside the state is thriving. The Lotteries Department also decided to issue public notice in all newspapers, making it clear that sale of Kerala Lotteries in other states is illegal and that strict action would be taken against those violating it.
The notice will also carry the number which the people can contact if they come across any such persons involved in illegal lottery sales.
Biju Prabhakar also made it clear that on getting information, action will be taken against those involved in the illegal sale of lotteries in other states by acting jointly with the respective state police.
