The case of Pune teenager, who drove the speeding Porsche and killed two software engineers, has taken a new turn ever since two doctors and an employee of Pune-based Sassoon General Hospital were arrested in connection with the alleged manipulation of the blood sample of the juvenile driver.
Sources have now told News18 the sequence of events that led to the manipulation of the blood sample.
Pune Police arrested Dr Ajay Taware, head of the Sassoon Hospital’s Forensic Medicine department, Dr Shrihari Halnor, the chief medical officer, and the staffer Atul Ghatkamble who works under Dr Taware. They were remanded in police custody till May 30.
How Were Blood Samples Changed?
• Blood sample of minor accused was taken to Sassoon General Hospital on May 19 at 11 am.
• Accused’s father contacted Dr Ajay Taware.
• On request of Ajay Taware, D Srihari Halnore changed the samples. The blood sample of the second person was sent to the forensic lab.
• Sassoon’s doctor reported that the minor accused had not consumed alcohol.
• The police took another blood sample of the juvenile accused for DNA testing at another government hospital.
• The blood sample taken for the second time matched with the blood sample of the minor accused and the father.
• But the blood sample from Sassoon did not match with the blood sample of the accused.
• During police interrogation, the doctor admitted to changing the blood sample.
• There is a middle man involved in this case. Pune police is trying to find this person and probe him. Cops suspect that one of the lab technicians/attendant was helping the three arrested accused.
