New Delhi: If you wish to win cash prizes by answering a few interesting questions on topics ranging from cinema to general knowledge, here is an opportunity for you. 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' will be brought to Kannada viewers as 'Kannadada Kotyadhipathi' which will be hosted by Sandalwood's Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar.
The most sought after show will be aired on Suvarna channel from March 12 onwards from 8 to 9 pm from Monday to Thursday. The show will bring trivia buffs and movie enthusisasts on the hot seat giving them a unique opportunity to win one crore rupees.
Speaking about the event, Anup Chandrasekharan, the Business Head of the channel said, "Before we undertook the project of Kannadada Kotyadhipathi we conducted a survey three years ago. The statistics proved that people wanted quality in the content given to them. The regular tele-serials soon became mundane. Through this reality show we are trying to make people believe that regional channel can also cater to the audience at large."
The show not only has an entertainment quotient but also brings in the education bit. Four exam centres in Hubli, Mysore, Bangalore and Dharwad were set up to assess the basic general knowledge of the audience.
Similar shows which were hosted in 116 countries and 83 languages, will be hosted in Kannada in 80 episodes. 80 per cent of the questions that will be posed to the participants will be based on Karnataka.
The questions also include the incidents which are of national and global importance. Every participant has to update his or her knowledge on history, geography and other subjects.
Speaking about his experience of interacting with people and being the host of 'Kannadada Kotyadhipathi', Puneeth said, "At home, we always watched Amitabh Bachchan's show 'Kaun Banega Crorepathi'. I am also a great fan of Siddharth Basu. This show not only helped me gain knowledge but also gave an opportunity to meet with lakhs of people and interact with them. At the end of the show, I may become a little more talented than I already am."
He also added that the team was supportive and encouraged him by keeping him occupied with innovative ideas.
Every episode ends with a moral lesson for children and family. As a part of the special episode, Ramya has also participated in the show. Raghavendra Rajkumar, speaking about the show, concluded, "Some participants in the show have undergone traumatic experiences. Through this show we have tried to lend our helping hand to the needy. Puneeth through this show has gained immense experience and knowledge. But the final analysis is left to the audience."
