A Bengaluru-based techie was found near a mall at Noida on Thursday evening, days after he went missing on August 4.
A resident of North Bengaluru, the man was seen coming out of the mall after watching a movie and was brought back to his city by cops on Friday morning.
A social media post was put out by the techie’s wife claiming that police were not putting enough efforts to trace her husband, who according to her, went missing after stepping out to visit an ATM to get some cash.
A resident of north Bengaluru, the techie had been missing since Aug 4, prompting his wife to take to social media, saying police weren’t putting in the desired efforts to trace her husband. The wife suspected that her husband was kidnapped.
During the initial course of the investigation, the police had no clue about the man’s whereabouts as he had switched off his mobile phone. The cops also checked several CCTV cameras at bus stands, railway stations, and even the airport but nothing helped. However, it was only through the new sim that the techie had purchased at Noida and inserted it into his old phone, that helped the cops trace him.
The investigating officers who met the techie when he came out of the mall told The Times of India, “When three of us surrounded him, he realised we were cops in civil clothes. He smiled and asked what next? We told him we should fly back to the city, and he strongly objected.”
It was only after some hours that the three officials could convince the techie to fly back. “You put me in prison, I will live there…but I won’t return,” the techie told them. He, however agreed when the cops told him that the missing person complaint filed by his wife could only be closed in his presence.
After landing at Kempegowda International Airport on Friday morning, the police took a statement from him and sent him back home. In his statement, the techie expressed that his wife harasses and tortures him.
“I’m her second husband. When I met her around three years back, she was a divorcee with a daughter aged around 12. I was a bachelor and agreed to marry her. We have an eight-month-old daughter together,” he told the police as quoted by TOI.
He further said, “She curtails my freedom, she shouts even if a drop of rice or a piece of chapati falls off my plate. I should dress according to her, I cannot go out alone to enjoy tea.”
The man also expressed that since his wife had uploaded his videos and pictures online announcing that he was missing, the techie changed his appearance. He apparently shaved his head and changed his look.
He had travelled to Tirupati by bus and then went to Bhubaneswar by train. He then went to Delhi from there and then headed to Noida, the techie told cops.
