New Delhi: "I never knew I could look so good onscreen. A few angles in the movie really make me look good. People watching the movie will have to decide who looks better, me or Tamannah?" he laughs. Actor Ram Charan Tej, who is presently shooting for a song sequence at the Annapurna Studios shares, "The stills in the movie look so graceful, the dance steps are really nice. I think of all my movies, I have enjoyed working the most in 'Rachcha'."
Calling it a mass entertainer, the actor says, "It has everything that my fans want. The subject has great clarity, the background score is amazing. The movie is not like 'Orange'. It's not just a love story, there is much more to the script."
Talking about the songs of the movie, the actor says, "I love all the songs of the movie. But my favourite is 'Dillaku'."
When asked if he wants to make it a ritual to remake one of his father’s songs in his movies, he replies, "I loved working on both Bangaru Kodipitta and Vaana Velluvaye. One is a fast number and the other one is a slow one. So, I have had nice experiences shooting for both of them. I just love the song 'Vaana Veluvaye' and it's not like a tradition to have one of my dad's song in all my movies. We use it only if the script demands it."
Ram Charan, however, confesses that he wants to act alongside his dad, Chiranjeevi."I wish I get to act with him. It will be a great experience and I am waiting for such an opportunity and a suitable script."
On his friendship with Junior NTR, he says, "NTR and I work in the same industry and we are great friends." The actor also clarified that they have not yet decided on acting in a multi-starrer movie.
"We are not planning to do any movie together. But if there is a great script, why not?" he questions.
Also popular for his dancing skills, Ram Charan however says that Allu Arjun is a better dancer. "He is a really good dancer and definitely better than me. But, when you ask him, he will not agree with me. Instead, he would crown me with the tag of being the better dancer. We keep complimenting each other. It's our agreement," he laughs.
Ask him for his birthday resolutions, and the actor promptly replies, "I don't believe in resolutions."
He has two more films in the pipeline, one a VV Vinayak's directorial venture, Yevadu, which kick-started shooting and also the Zanjeer remake, which is still in the pre-production stage. His co-actress Tamannah Bhatia also shares her experiences on acting along side Ram Charan Tej in Rachcha.
She says, "I have found a great friend in him. He is so down-to-earth and great to work with. I also have utmost respect for him as even after the injury, he is dancing so beautifully."
Courting Controversy
The much-awaited and much-hyped Ram Charan Tej and Tamannah Bhatia starrer, 'Rachcha' landed in a controversy even before it hit the screens. Tamannah Bhatia’s costumes and oomph in the remake of a yesteryear song, 'Vaana Veluvaye' has not gone down well with a section of the people, as a few have been protesting against the film for some objectionable scenes and have also termed it as obscene.
Jaathiya Arundhati Mahila Shakti (JAMS), a women’s rights organisation, filed a complaint with the Banjara Hills police station against makers of the film. Reacting to this, actor Ram Charan Tej says, "I think everybody has their own view point."
While the producer of the film NV Prasad opines, "It is not necessary that everybody agrees to what one does. Everyone looks at things in their own way. We have to examine the song yet, only after which we will see what can be done about it. We will act according to the law."
Ask if they plan to delete those 'obscene' scenes from the song, and he replies, “We have not decided anything yet. But if the law says, we will definitely act according to the law."
'Rachcha' is a directorial venture of Sampath Nandi, which is expected to release in April in Tamil and Telugu simultaneously.
