Rahul's Babri remarks enrage VHP
VHP said Gandhi’s statements show his ignorance on the entire issue and that it would affect Congress adversely.

New Delhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on demolition of Babri Masjid have irked Vishwa Hindu Parishad leaders. The party said on Thursday that Gandhi’s statements show his ignorance on the entire issue and that it would affect Congress adversely.

"Rather than reading out the ready made speeches given by his psychophant advisors, he (Rahul) should first think before saying something on a particular issue," Acharya Dharmendra, member of VHP's central advisory board was quoted by PTI.

Asserting that the outfit was against all those who indulge in "vote bank politics in the name of Babari issue", he said, "whatever he( Rahul) has said was given to him by his immature advisors. I don't know if his statements would provide any advantage to his party or not, but it would adversely affect Congress, of which he is an aspiring and rehearsing next leader".

Rahul had said at a campaign meeting in Muzaffarnagar on Monday “Babri Masjid would not have been demolished had the Gandhi family been active in politics at that time.”

Defending former prime minister Narasimha Rao, VHP leader said, “I cannot tolerate the defamation of former prime minister P V Narasimha Rao by an young Congress leader."

Acharya Dharmendra a leading member of the Ramjanambhumi Mukti Aandolan also claimed that describing Babri as a mosque by Rahul was a "defamation of court and is against the sentiments of Hindu community".

"Rahul Gandhi is even ignorant towards the history of his own party, then how can we expect from him to have upto date knowledge on Babari issue," he told PTI.
