HYDERABAD: Four rebel Telangana TDP legislators were forcibly removed from the deputy speaker’s room on the Assembly premises by the task force police on late Saturday night, ending the day-long drama. The rebel T leaders - Nagam Janardhan Reddy, S Venugopalachary, Jogu Ramanna and K Hareeshwar Reddy went inside the deputy speaker’s chambers on Saturday afternoon and bolted the doors from inside. The four leaders, before entering the chambers of the deputy speaker, made it clear that they would not leave the Assembly premises until such time speaker accepts their resignations.Janardhan Reddy alleged that though he and his colleagues had resigned to Assembly membership and party membership, the speaker had not yet acted on their resignations and was delaying a decision, in spite of telling him that they were quitting voluntarily and that they were not doing it under pressure from any quarters. The four leaders stayed put in the deputy speaker’s chamber and refused to come out though the Assembly staff tried to persuade them to call off their protest. They had told them that since the speaker was out of station, there was no way an immediate decision could be taken on their resignations. But the four leaders stuck to their guns and demanded that a decision be taken immediately on their resignations or they would stay put in the deputy speaker’s chambers. As there was no way that they could be persuaded to come out of the deputy speaker’s room, the assembly staff requisitioned the service of the task force for their physical removal. The police used force and removed them from the deputy speaker’s chamber. According to reports, T activists gathered outside the Assembly and began raising slogans protesting against police action even as the four leaders were taken to their respective houses.
