CHENNAI:  A retired assistant general manager of a nationalised bank approached the suburban police commissioner on Monday and lodged a plaint against actor Vadivelu for allegedly usurping property worth Rs 2 croreS Palaniappan (73) of Ashok Nagar alleged that he bought 34 cents land at Irumbuliyur in his son’s name at an auction, held by the Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation (TIIC), for Rs 20 lakh and registered it in 2006. He alleged that one Ramachandran, the previous owner, had in 1993 helped his friend to get a loan from TIIC, with the land as collateral. But the friend could not repay it and in 2003, TIIC announced an auction to sell it.  “In 2009, I got word that some people were constructing a compound wall in my land,” he said. As per his plaint, actor Vadivelu’s men were involved in the construction. They threatened him against approaching the police, claiming that they were close to the then government. Palaniappan lodged a plaint with the then Suburban CoP, but no action was taken.“Ramachandran’s son had given a power of attorney to Vadivelu’s close friend, who had passed it on to the actor. But that is a forged document as I’m the rightful owner. The actor then gifted it to his wife,” he alleged.
