New Delhi: Environmentalist RK Pachauri on Tuesday stepped down as chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) following charges of sexual harassment even after denying the accusation.
The decision of Pachauri, who has been accused of sexual harassment by a woman employee of TERI, was made public by the IPCC at its ongoing 3-day 41st Session from Tuesday.
The bureau of the UN's IPCC agreed on Tuesday to designate Vice-Chair Ismail El Gizouli as acting chair.
The development follows the decision by Pachauri to step down as the chairman of the IPCC, a press release said on Tuesday.
