Sania jumps two places in WTA rankings
Her quarter-final appearance in the same tournament pushed her seven places up the ladder in doubles in the latest WTA rankings.

New Delhi: Sania Mirza jumped two places up to 39th in the latest WTA rankings announced on Monday.

The Indian had made the first round exit in the Nasdaq-100 Open at Key Biscayne in Miami last week.

She was ousted by a 16-year-old Georgian wildcard entrant Anna Tatishvili 6-7, 6-1, 6-7.

Her quarter-final appearance in the same tournament pushed her seven places up the ladder in doubles in the latest WTA rankings.

Sania will next play in Bausch and Lomb tournament at Amelia Island, USA.

She will take on Lisa Raymond of USA in the opening round of the Tier II WTA tour event to be played from April 3 to 9.

Other Indians have also a rewarding week as all of them moved up the ladder in singles rankings.

Shikha Uberoi remained the second highest ranking Indian woman pro moving three places up to 175th, while Ankita Bhambri moved up three places to 357th.

Rushmi Chakravarthi, Isha Lakhani and Sanaa Bhambri made huge jumps. While Rushmi moved up 12 places to finish at 369th, Isha Lakhani is now at 370th up 16 places and Sanaa Bhambri (461st) moved up 13 places.
