New Delhi: Indian tennis star Sania Mirza has bowed out of the singles event at the $600,000 Open Gaz de France as she went down to the local Tatiana Golovin in a second round match in straight sets on Thursday night.
Sania failed to reproduce her Round one form, where she defeated sixth seed Italian Flavia Pennetta, and was easily overpowered by the world No 24 Frenchwoman 6-4, 6-2.
The Hyderabadi, who last month crashed out of the second round at Australian Open also, still has a chance in the doubles event where she, along with her South African partner Liezel Huber, has already advanced to the second round.
