This Gandhi Jayanti, one thousand youngsters will line up in white to attend a pan-religious prayer and ‘Santhi Sangamam’ at Putharikandam Maidan to honour the Father of the Nation.
The Jawahar Balajanavedi is organising the event ‘Kuttikale Gandhijiyilekku’ to mark the 143rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the event at 9 am. Playback singer G Venugopal will lead the prayer.
Another interesting programme is a poets’ meet on Gandhi poems. Poet Sugathakumari will open this event. Cartoonist Adv Jitesh will conduct a ‘speed cartoon infotainment show.’
Former Chief Secretary R Ramachandran Nair will deliver a lecture on the relevance of Gandhi. An exhibition of photographs on the life of Gandhi titled ‘A Tribute to Gandhi’ is also planned. Noted Gandhian P Gopinathan Nair will be honoured on the occasion.
