Schools in quagmire of problems

DEOGARH: Paintings of some freedom fighters and two world maps are all that the Darichur Primary School in Kendijuri gram panchayat in Tileibani block has.The two-room school does not have a roof and has 70 students on its rolls from Class I to V.The school building was constructed in 1997 and a storm in May this year blew away the tin roof besides damaging the building.And ever since the school reopened after the summer vacation, students have been studying under the canopy of open sky. Even as school management committee president Durbadala Dehuri has been running from pillar to post for the last eight months, nothing has materialised.He has apprised everyone starting from the BDO to the district collector of the situation. Help of any kind, however, is yet to reach.
