HYDERABAD: Thursday's 'Secretariat bandh', called by the Secretariat Telangana employees' JAC in protest against 'illegal' arrest of some employees inside the premises the previous day, had little impact with a majority of the employees, mostly belonging to Seemandhra, reporting for work.
With the overall attendance being about 77 percent, the situation seemed normal in the Secretariat throughout the day.Except for staging a dharna near the Jblock building, the 400odd striking Telangana employees did not try to obstruct their colleagues who were on duty. The striking staff demanded withdrawal of the Task Force and Rapid Action Force from the Secretariat. They called off the dharna after playing Batukamma and shouting Jai Telangana slogans.

According to chief secretary SV Prasad, the employee attendance was about 77 percent in the Secretariat and 20 per cent in the districts in Telangana. As for salaries to the striking employees for September, he said salaries for the days worked (till September 12) would be paid on October 1.

RAF and Task Force personnel were deployed in large numbers on the premises following a decision taken by the Seemandhra and some Telangana employees to work in spite of the "Secretariat bandh".
