Senior National Conference leader and former MP Ali Mohammad Nayak was on Monday injured in a terrorist attack.

Srinagar: Senior National Conference leader and former MP Ali Mohammad Nayak was on Monday injured in a terrorist attack.

The terrorists attacked him at his residence in Tral town of Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Nayak, who received a bullet injury on his face, was immediately rushed to hospital, a close aide of the leader said.

Official sources said one jawan on security duty was killed while another was injured.

No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack and further details are awaited.

Meanwhile, policemen on Monday repulsed a militant attack on a police post in Bhaderwah town of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir, where by-elections will be held on April 24.

A group of militants fired on the Sangali police post in the district while campaigning for the elections was going on, sources said.

Exchange of fire between police and militants continued for over two hours, they said adding that the militants later escaped from the spot.

Chief Minister Gulam Nabi Azad is pitted against BJP's Kushol Kotwal for the Bhaderwah assembly seat.
