CHENNAI: The TN State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has directed School Education authorities not to deprive the legitimate right of thousands of students to write their Class X public examinations commencing from April 4.SHRC Acting Chairman K Baskaran gave the interim direction while entertaining a public interest complaint from advocate Sudan, on Tuesday.Sudan lodged the complaint based on newspaper reports that large number of students, who showed poor performance in the past, were prevented by school authorities concerned from writing the public examinations.Baskaran felt that it was the fittest case to issue an interim direction to the school education authorities to ensure that all the students, who were otherwise eligible for writing the examination, were not deprived of their right to write the examinations on the sole grounds of their alleged poor performance in the past. Accordingly, he gave the direction. The Commission also directed the School Education authority concerned to file a report on the action taken along with a report concerning the matter covered in the complaint, within two weeks.
