Mumbai: Filmmaker Jagmohan Mundra has said that the film Sonia, based on UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi's life is on hold due to the opposition by Congress party.
The film, an adaptation from the biography of Sonia Gandhi by Delhi-based journalist Rashid Kidwai, was to star Italian actress Monica Bellucci in the lead role of Sonia Gandhi and covers her life from 1964 to 2004.
The pre-production work has been completed but had to be put on hold due to objection from the Congress. The party has said that the biography was not authorised.
When contacted by PTI, Mundra, who is in London, rubbished any speculations about the film starting all over again.
"There is no change in the status of the film and the Congress' stance. After the Lok Sabha elections, I will approach them again to withdraw their objection. At present, the project is on hold," he stated.
