KOZHIKODE: Refuting allegations raised against him, BJP leader P S Sreedharan Pillai said that he had never held any kind of discussions in Dubai with any Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader to subvert the CBI investigation into the Marad carnage. Speaking at a press conference here on Monday, he further said that the allegations were completely baseless and was a ploy by the investigation officer to malign me. I had not even visited Dubai till date and not discussed the issue with any League leader.”He also said that he would serve legal notice to the Investigation officer and the state government demanding Rs. 25 lakh compensation for purposefully spreading wrong and false allegations against him.Earlier media had reported that a witness testified to the investigation agency that Pillai had held secret discussions with a IUML leader in Dubai to avert the demands for CBI inquiry. Questioning the sanctity of the fresh revelations, the BJP leader said that he had nothing to do with the decision to withdraw the petitions from the High Court seeking CBI investigation. “Petitions were withdrawn from the High Court on July 31, 2003, whereas I have taken passport only on September 14 in the same year. “This shows that all the allegations levelled against me are false and makes it clear that I had not held any discussions with League in the foreign country.”Coming heavily on the investigation officer and the investigation agency he said that that it was constituted to investigate the Marad carnage and the various aspects of the violence including conspiracy, Financial sources and the extremist relations, but they were now trying to mislead the investigations by putting baseless allegations against him. “The investigation officer is trying to take revenge on me. He is making use of the media to spread these kind of allegations,”he added.
