Chennai: DMK Deputy General Secretary M K Stalin on Monday said he was not in the race for the Chief Ministership.
"DMK is a democratic party where there is no question of succession. Anyway, I am not in the race," said Stalin.
Stalin is believed to be his father M Karunanidhi's successor as the party chief.
Stalin after casting his vote said, he was confident that the DMK would gain an absolute majority on its own and there would not be any need for a coalition government in Tamil Nadu.
On the freebies offered by the DMK and the AIADMK during electioneering, Stalin said his party's offer of freebies were part and parcel of its manifesto, which were printed and circulated to the public.
"But this is not the case with the AIADMK, their manifesto does not contain these promises. Its leader Jayalalithaa has made only oral promises," he added.
Speaking on Jayalalithaa's apprehension that the DMK would instigate violence during the polls, he said, "we never believe in violence. If there is any violence, then the AIADMK has to be blamed for it."
