Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Monday ordered the state government to ensure that the strike called by the Opposition United Democratic Front doesn’t disrupt life and traffic in the state on Tuesday.
A bench comprising Chief Justice H L Dathu and Justice K M Joseph gave this order while reiterating a full bench’s order on bandhs.
The full bench had asked the state government to ensure strikes don’t affect life, people are not forced to participate and traffic is not blocked.
The division bench was hearing a petition filed by Anti- Hartal Campaign committee, seeking a direction to the UDF for withdrawing the hartal.
Advocate General, C P Sudhakara Prasad, on behalf of the state assured that normal life would not be disrupted.
The counsel for the Congress said they proposed to conduct a peaceful hartal to protest the price rise of essential commodities.
