Susi Emu firm feels the heat
As investors continue protest for 4th day, officials start identifying cos assets

Officials have initiated steps to attach properties of the promoters of Susi Emu Farms, even as hundreds of people who had invested in the firm thronged its head office in Perundurai for the fourth consecutive day.

Police had a difficult time controlling the crowd and have brought the entire office and the 15 vehicles owned by the company under its custody. DRO S Ganesh and RDO Dr R Sugumar visited the office and inspected some records.

Informed sources said that each bird needs 500-750 gram of food worth Rs 20 every day. Hence, Rs 1.4 lakh has to be spent every day to maintain the 7,000 birds being reared by the firm.

Although the birds could be sent for culling after 18 months, those in the farm have exceeded that limit. This would leave them with no buyers as the meat would have more fibre and won’t be tasty.

The firm’s hotel at Perundurai and Erode, and the office of another firm at Perundurai remained closed.

Meanwhile, to control the rush in front of the office, police put up a board asking investors to come to their office to lodge complaint on the specific dates that will be announced for each district through the media. However, police registered complaints at Perumal Koil Mandapam for second consecutive day. Police said over 450 complaints have been registered.

Initiating steps to attach properties of the firm, tahsildars have started collecting information on the assets of the firm with the help of Village Adminstrative Officers. Further action will be taken after getting a Government Order in this regard, sources said.

EOW Asks Investors to File Complaints

Normally, according to the nature of the complaint and sensitiveness of the case, the probe will be handed over to various wings of police.” Investors from other States can lodge complaints in Erode EOW office.
