BANGALORE: Superintendent of Police Eshwara Chandra Vidyasagar, who had assumed charge as Lokayukta Bangalore division SP a week ago, is back to his parent department following allegations of corruption during his tenure as SP in Koppal district.Following his request to relieve him from the post of the anticorruption agency’s SP, Lokayukta Justice Shivaraj Patil has relieved him on Friday.Vidyasagar was alleged of receiving over Rs 5 lakh from one Kharadapudi Mahesh when the former was serving as SP of Koppal district.Mahesh’s brother is allegedly involved in illegal mining and it was accused that the SP had received graft. In the illegal mining report submitted to the government by Lokayukta recently, it was mentioned that bribes were given to Koppal SP and the dates of transaction mentioned in the report had landed Vidyasagar in trouble as he was the SP during that time.Again, the tainted officer’s transfer to the anticorruption agency had snowballed into a controversy.Speaking at a press conference here on Friday, Justice Patil said that the officer expressed that he would not like to continue in his current posting in the Lokayukta as he himself was facing corruption charges and requested to be relieve of his duties.“Following his request, he was relieved of his duties and has been sent back to his parent department,” said Justice Patil.
