KOCHI: The Income Tax law is the bulkiest law in the country having provisions that often intimidate people, said Chief Justice of Kerala J Chelameswar.He was speaking after inaugurating the function organised to mark the culmination of the year-long celebration of 150 years of income tax in India. The Chief Justice also released the book “Celebration Through Art, 150 Years of Income Tax in India,” which was published as a souvenir for the 150th anniversary.Actor Dileep, who was the guest of honour, said that film stars are not troublesome persons. “They often land in trouble when they trust someone blindly,” he said. He quipped that the I-T department should consider providing pension to those who pay high amount as tax because the fortune from the film field may not last forever. E T Lukose, I-T director general, Kochi, presided over the function. Federal Bank CEO Shyam Sreenivasan, Seematti proprietor Beena Kannan, chairman of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India Kochi chapter Saji Mathew, Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry vice-chairman Francis Alappat and I-T chief commissioner Thiruvananathapuram S K Pahwa attended the function.
