Mumbai: Music scores of the composing duo Sajid Wajid has been part of many films that belong to the 100-crore club. Sajid-Wajid have been a permanent fixture in Salman films like 'Dabangg', 'Dabangg 2', 'Ek Tha Tiger' and then some more. Boney Kapoor's 'Tevar' also has the (for the lack of better word) Salman Khan-sound for its songs.
'Superman' is quintessential fan boy song that pays tribute to Salman Khan! 'Superman' has all the makings of Bollywood song that hits the bullseye, where foot-tapping music is concerned. Sung by the composer himself, Wajid does a bang up job '(Superman)... Salman Da Fan'. 'Radha Nachegi' takes a fresh look in terms of production with electric guitar and Ritu Pathak's throaty vocals reflect the western sensibility in the rendition of a Krishna and Radha song that's traditionally a devotional number.
Mika Singh singing 'Madamiyan' hints at yet another chart-topping number. What's great about this audacious and catchy composition are the lyrics by Kausar Munir. 'Madamiyan' is not misogynistic and doesn't call the woman 'tandoori chicken' or 'cheez' but the hero expresses gratitude "res-pact-fully".
'Let's Celebrate' is an assimilation of sample sounds and vocals being auto-tuned, crowding a good tune/composition. The song could pass off as a club-mix of a Hindi film song inspired from Pet Shop Boys. 'Joganiya' gets caught in the vicious circle of monotony because the oft-repeated chorus and in turn the competently rendered verse by Shruti Hassan, gets overshadowed. The remix of 'Superman' seems unnecessary.
If one is pinned down to select the best of the lot then 'Superman' and 'Main Nai Jaana Pardes' that will shine through the list. A special recommendation here is the song 'Madamiyan' to be played at wedding function, especially for its lyrics, instead of 'Fevicol' or 'Sheila Ki Jawani'. Sajid-Wajid have the knack to come up with memorable soundtrack, though calling Tevar the duo's best does seem like an exaggeration.
