Film: Thambikku Intha Ooru (Tamil)

Cast: Bharath, Sana Khan, Madalasa Sharma, Prabhu, Vivek, Nizhalgal Ravi

Director: Badri

Music: Dharan

Thambikku Intha Ooru is a story of a young man who goes in search of his real parents in India from Singapore. The protagonist of the film Akhil (Bharath) stays in Singapore with his parents and is taking care of the hotel owned by his father. All of a sudden his parents plan to fix his marriage with Priya, the daughter of their family friend in Singapore.

There start the twists. Akhil discloses his desire to marry the girl whom he met in a shopping mall, once again love at first sight. He denies the marriage proposal from Priya's parents.

On hearing this, Priya's father brimmed with emotion explodes the long hidden secret that Akhil is an adopted son, this is twist number two! After confirming this painful truth with his parents Akhil gets ready to meet his real parents in Tamil Nadu.

The rest of the story happens in Tamil Nadu. After a long investigation, Akhil and his best buddy Cola Kumar (Vivek) find that Kumaraswamy (Prabhu), his father’s friend-turned-foe, is his real father.

Meanwhile, Akhil happens to meet his heartthrob Divya (Sana Khan) in Tamil Nadu. As expected, within two duets their love gets strengthened. Another twist is that Divya's father is a common enemy to Akhil's father and Kumaraswamy. These eventful side stories leads to the climax of the film, there too we could expect several twists.

The film has everything – romance, action, sentiment, comedy and heroism. But overall the combination doesn't match well. Vivek's comedy scenes in the film are vulgar with double meanings. He fails to evoke laughter. In some places he dominates over the hero with lengthy scenes that do not add value to the progression of the story.

Heroines Sana Khan and Madalasa Sharma have nothing particular to do in the film. Madalasa Sharma vanishes after appearing in just two scenes, while Sana Khan is used only as the glam doll.

The screenplay is not linked properly. Other than the chain of 'suspense-stuffed' twists in the story, the songs and action scenes that appear at inappropriate positions adds up to the irritation.

One song in the film is fully-dedicated to uplift 'Chinna Thalapathi' Bharath to the status of a super hero.

The main shortcoming of Thambikku Intha Ooru is that there is no depth in the film to glue the viewers to it. Whether it is romance, sentiment or comedy, it doesn't create any appeal in the viewers. This clearly reflects the dearth of clarity and attraction in the script and screenplay. Because of these drawbacks, whenever a twist comes in the story, rather than creating interest in viewers it creates irritation. Even the casting of senior actors like Prabhu, Nizhalgal Ravi, and Thalaivasal Vijay to the lead roles fails to impress viewers.

In a nutshell, Thambikku Intha Ooru is like an over colourful painting without an inch of clarity and appeal.
