BANGALORE: Mayor Sharadamma directed the contractors who are constructing a pedestrian subway near K R Market to complete the work by December.She inspected various development works at Chickpet constituency on Wednesday. She said that the Palike will provide all the facility to complete the work as soon as possible.“If they (contractors) fail to complete the work by December, the Palike will take action against them,’’ she warned. Contractors who were present on the spot blamed the faulty BWSSB water pipes. They said that the pipes were a menace in their way. The mayor refused to listen to their excuses and instead told them to complete the work and allow public to use it as soon as possible.Sharadamma who also visited the multi-storeyed parking complex on JC Road where there was a mechanic shop instead of cars. She directed the concerned officials to remove the mechanic’s shop and allow only cars to be parked there. She later instructed the officials to put a road divider near Townhall to avoid traffic jam.Deputy mayor Harish who was also present made a note of the encroachments on the footpath. He also noticed that many of them had not renewed their trade license, for which he gave a warning. He asked the shop owners to clear the encroached footpath themselves by evening.The team also visited Kalasipalyam, where bus stand construction will take place on the five and half acre land. As there is a fear of encroachment by private parties, the mayor directed the officials to construct a compound wall across the land. She has also directed them to remove the bushes which have grown near the burial ground.At Hombegowda Nagar, D Chandrappa, the local corporator complained that storm water drain overflows every time it rains. He requested the mayor to remove the silt. The mayor said that she would direct her officials to take action at the earliest.
