KOCHI: Hunting for gifts can be quite a task. The gift should appeal to the taste of the person, and importantly, a personal touch is what everyone looks for. Not surprisingly, the demand for personalised gifts is groowing in the city, says Najeeb, the owner of Emotions Unlimited, a showrom at Convent Junction which has an exhaustive variety of personalised gifts ranging from common mugs with photographs to T-shirts, stuffed dolls, mouse pads, wooden coasters, cloaks, key chains, chocolate wrappers, crystals, ceramic plates, tiles, stones, pillow covers, name plates and even champagne bottles.Najeeb says that people prefer personalised gifts over regular ones for occasions like birthdays. Gifts with personal photos and messages that convey feelings of the giver are quite popular. Animal handle mugs, wooden and metal tiles with an elegant look and designer cloaks are the most sought after. The gifts are not just for youngsters, he says. For instance, for a couple celebrating their golden anniversary, a 'Jumpo frame' with 28 frames, where all their memorable photographs can be displayed is an ideal gift. For kids, there are tiffin boxes, water bottles, T-shirts with funny quotes, chocolate wrappers, magical mugs whose colour changes when hot water is poured, butterfly flip albums, and the like. All one needs to do is give the picture intended, and the designers deliver the personalised item in ten minutes flat.Cushions, mats, pillow covers with images and windchimes find a lot of takers among women, says he. The prices ranges from `125 to 3500.Melissa Mathew, a college student in the city is a fan of these gifts. "Personalised gifts are a hit. We often surprise our dear and near ones with metallic wooden frames, flip albums or coasters with the best photographs."Emotions Unlimited is the all Kerala distributor of personalised gift items and has more than 140 products. Najeeb has been in the business of gift articles for quite a few years now. When he saw the demand for personalised gifts increasing, he started importing them from Bangalore. But often the show pieces would be damaged by the time they reached Kochi. That in turn gave him the idea of starting a personalised gift shop. He says his company focuses on making gifts that stand apart from the rest. The products of the shop are regularly exhibited at the Naval Show and Vasantholsavam every year. Besides, they will also be exhibited at the All India Photo Fare to be held at Bangalore on January 5, 2012.
