Thiruppavai to wake up Lord

TIRUPATHI: There will be no Suprabhata Seva in Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirumala from December 17 to January 14. In place of Suprabhata Seva, Thiruppavai will be recited to wake up the Lord everyday morning. The change in the ritual is due to Dhanurmasam. According to the TTD almanac, Dhanurmasam which commences at 10 pm on December 16, ends on January 14, 2012. Goda Devi, who is also known as Andal, is one of the 12 Alwars and the only female among the Alwars, authored 30 Pasurams, which are called Thiruppavai.
