The Paralympics originated from a modest assembly of British World War II veterans in 1948. Over the years, it has evolved into one of the largest international sporting events. The 2020 Summer Paralympics featured 4,520 athletes from 163 National Paralympic Committees, highlighting its global significance in the early 21st century.

Numerous differently-abled athletes wish to participate in the Paralympics and win laurels for their country. One among the thousands of such aspirants is Amar Sainadh from the city of Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh. Amar’s unparalleled finesse in javelin throw despite a childhood injury that left his left hand crippled, has made him a popular figure in Kurnool.

Amar Sainadh, born to Chandrasekhar and Uma Maheshwari in Kurnool district, faced a childhood injury resulting in the permanent loss of his left hand. Nevertheless, he displays unwavering courage and runs with confidence, earning the admiration of those around him. He completed his 10th standard in 2015 and finished his Intermediate studies at APR JC College in Chittoor district in 2017. He got an engineering seat at the G Pullaiah College in Kurnool in Divyang quota.

Demonstrating academic excellence, he earned his B.Tech degree from G Pullaiah College. Subsequently, he secured a position at TCS software company, where he worked for a brief period. However, fueled by his mother Umadevi’s aspirations, he didn’t halt his passion towards athletics. Instead, he ventured into para-athletics and exhibited remarkable talent in javelin throw competitions.

Amar Sainadh competed at various levels including district, state and national competitions, securing gold medals through dedicated daily practice. His ultimate aspiration is to compete in the Paralympics and clinch the gold medal in javelin throw in para-athletics. Amar, driven by his mother’s dreams, undergoes intense training with the sole aim of achieving this goal.
