Three men let-off after five slaps for raping a 15-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh

In a bizarre ruling in Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh, three men accused of raping a 15-year-old girl were given a punishment of just 5 slaps and let off by the local panchayat.

The girl was allegedly kidnapped by the three men on her way to school and gangraped.

Baghpat police said a complaint had been filed against the three accused as well as the panchayat and assured that action would be taken soon. The three accused are absconding.

The incident comes just weeks after a Haryana panchayat ordered five shoe slaps as punishment for two persons who were accused of gang-raping a girl in Hisar district.
